Two leading galleries in the heart of Beer Village
There are not many small villages that can boast hosting two top galleries offering fine and applied art by celebrated artists.
Marine House was opened in 1998 shortly followed by Steam Gallery. They are 150 metres apart in the centre of Beer, yards from our famed beach. Having gained over twenty one years an international reputation, they are widely seen as leading galleries in the West Country. Established by Mike and Rosemary Lambert, art lovers who wished to escape from senior management jobs in London, they proved an immediate success despite local reservations about the viability of art galleries in a small fishing village!
The galleries represent over 100 talented and established artists with an accent on the abundance of talent in the South West. Marine House presents original art, a wide range of top class ceramics, sculpture, and hand crafted jewellery. Steam Gallery, with its own stable of artists, has built a reputation as a centre of excellence for studio glass and figurative ceramics.
The galleries exhibit in London, Singapore, and Hong Kong at the Affordable Art Fairs and Fresh at Ascot. Solo shows are staged throughout the year.
All details about the galleries, artists and shows are on our site which we pride in keeping fully up to date with available works. There are items to suit all tastes and all pockets from £10 — £10000.
We pride ourselves with being welcoming hosts with a very open door policy. Our staff led by manager Julia Brookman are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Most have been with us many years. So don’t miss out exploring our wonderful selections next time you visit Beer or, as many people do, surf our web, choose something and we’ll deliver worldwide.
Both galleries are open seven days a week all year with a one day break in midwinter, Marine House Monday and Steam Gallery Tuesday.
